1968 Era 100 Watt Replica
Metroamp replica of the early '68 100 watt plexi. Also called a "12 series" due to the serial numbers being in the 12,000 range. EVH's famous brown sound amp is from this era.
This transitional era amp represents the last version of the 100 watt plexi with internally mounted filter caps, lower filtering and early chassis layout.
When people talk about their favorite recorded guitar sounds, the tone on the first four Van Halen albums is invariably cited. It's the tone that inspired thousands, maybe millions of new (and old) guitarists. For rock guitarists, it is quite literally THE dream amp.
Stock and unmodified, this is it. EVH aside, if you dig deeper, you'll discover that this amp produced the sound of MANY other landmark, important hard rock albums. The list of artists who used the original version of this amp on some of rock's most classic tracks IS a rock and roll hall of fame.
